Unfortunately, HEART BONES left me wanting more. I don’t know if it’s just Hoover’s writing style or the characters of this novel in particular, but I just didn’t connect with it as much as I had hoped to. As a result, it took me longer than I would’ve liked to finish it. I struggled with most of HEART BONES because the writing style did not keep my attention. I find that Colleen Hoover often does that on purpose though to capture the reader’s attention. There were many times throughout HEART BONES when I didn’t really like the theme of the story. The poverty and hardships that Beyah goes through are often hard to read. Despite their differences, something unexpected happens and it’s interesting to watch it unfold. Forced to spend her summer in Texas with her father, Beyah encounters Samson, someone who couldn’t be more different from her. An unexpected death puts her life on hold and the plans she had set for herself are now doomed. "HEART BONES left me wanting more." Heart Bonesįor Beyah, things have not been going well at all.
